In photography, the smallest thing can become a great subject. The little, human detail can become a Leitmotiv.
– Henri Cartier-Bresson (French photographer)
A couple of years ago I was travelling with my good friend and photographer Bethany Edwards (check out her blog) and I was amazed at how she would capture these stunning images of things I hadn’t even noticed. Now I see: photography changes your perception of the world.
I’m now halfway though my Photo-A-Day Challenge and I’m astounded at how much more detail I take in than I did at the start of the year. In celebration of this, June’s photo challenge is devoted to The Close Up Shot. (Well, mostly.)
I actually had so much fun this month that I decided to focus on a monthly theme for the rest of the year, inspired by a great article I stumbled across: 10 Photography Assignments to Stimulate Your Creativity.
Stay tuned next month for People & Faces.
PS. I’ve done away with the captions because I found them distracting. If you want to know anything about any of the shots, just ask!
